Kazakhstan ballet star, dancer in demand with most famous ballet venues of the world, leading soloist of “Astana Opera” Bakhtiyar Adamzhan is going to star in NOVAT performances in March. Laureate of many international competitions, winner of the international Dance Open award in the category “Mister Virtuosity” will perform the title role in “Spartacus” ballet on March 13th, and then on March 20th the part of Solor in “La Bayadère”.
Young talented dancer conquers ballet tops one after another. Bakhtiyar became the first Kazakhstan artist who performed in a ballet show of Milan’s La Scala star dancer “Roberto Bolle and friends”, first Kazakhstan dancer who performed Young Man in R. Petit’s “Le Jeune Homme et la Mort” in Italy, 2018 as part of a gala concert dedicated to the memory of Rudolf Nureyev. He was accompanied by La Scala prima ballerina Nicoletta Manni. Bakhtiyar is proud to represent the Kazakhstan artistic community within international cultural environment. Kazakhstan government highly appreciates his achievements: in 2018 he was awarded with the State grant of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy.
Bakhtiyar spent his childhood in a small town Konyrolen, which is located in five hours drive from Almaty, and at first he did wrestling. His exceptional flexibility and plasticity promised him a remarkable career in wrestling, but his parents decided that ballet art would suit him better. At the age of nine he joined the Almaty choreographic school named after Seleznev. Upon graduation Bakhtiyar was offered a job at the Almaty opera and ballet theatre named after Abay, where he spent two years dancing in corps de ballet. His star career started with “Astana Opera”, where he was offered a job right after its opening: he performed Spartacus in Yury Grigorovich’s legendary ballet. The choreographer came in Astana specifically to pick the dancers by himself.
“Yury Grigorovich’s choreography is a masterwork. For me it’s a great privilege to perform this part. Besides, this is my favorite performance, and it is the one that launched my big ballet career. That’s why I’m happy I had an opportunity to perform this piece of Yury Grigorovich’s choreography. In addition to that, the image of my Spartacus changes with each performance, I keep reconsidering it. Each time I ask myself a question – what I would think, what I would feel if I were a slave like him. And then I try to express those emotion through my dancing” – tells Bakhtiyar.
This is what Linda Kaiser wrote in Mentelocale after Bakhtiyar Adamzhan performed Spartacus during “Astana Opera” tour visit in Carlo Felice theatre in Genoa: “In my opinion, Bakhtiyar Adamzhan is the best Spartacus performer. His dancing was imbued with legerity, he did not waver for a single moment”.
