September 06, 2017

The new 73rd season of the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet theatre starts on 7th September. At the day of opening of the new season, at 4:30 p.m. more trees are to be planted at the Theatre Avenue in memory of the national artists of the USSR – Lidiya Krupenina, Valery Egudin, national artists of the RSFSR – Anatoly Berdyshev and Lyubov Gershunova.

After the ceremony the audience will see the first premiere of the season – “L’elisir d’amore” opera by Gaetano Donizetti – a new rendition by the theatre’s Chief Stage Director Vyacheslav Starodubtsev. Designed as “Opera Degustation”, it came out to be vivid, modern and sharp-witted. The premiere shows are set on 7th and 8th September.

The first ballet premiere will be Nacho Duato’s “The Nutcracker”, set to premiere on 23rd and 24th September. Built on Tchaikovsky’s ingenious music, this fairy-tale will sparkle with new colors as bright, deep, wise story. The original choreography of a contemporary master describing the beloved ballet story is combined with deep appreciation of Russian culture and mastery of the great ancestors.
