November 28, 2016

On December 8 and 10 Honoured artist of Russia Ivan Vasiliev will perform the main part in Spartacus ballet choreographed by Yuri Grigorovich.

With full confidence Ivan Vasiliev can be called “our” artist – performances with Mikhailovsky Theatre dancer's participation are regularly held in NOVAT. Siberian audience appreciates a possibility to see one of the brightest ballet stars and purchases tickets long before the performances, particularly if the dancer performs his best part.

Ivan Vasiliev made his debut in the part of Spartacus on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia in 2009. The role of a rebellious leader of slaves in his interpretation met appreciation of experts: “Ivan’s Spartacus is so young that he does not give way to philosophic musings. Of course he strives for freedom but he acts on impulse, filling his dance with unbridled power of youth “, - mentioned the ballet critic Nina Alovert.

For the years passed after debut, Spartacus performed by Ivan Vasiliev became more mature. “It is one of those rare productions, where everything is concentrated on the male dance, - marks the artist. – Though strong technique and physique are required, the art of acting is above, because the main goal is to depict the soul of Spartacus. I think that this production doesn’t lose its actuality. When it was being staged, it was not a story about the ancient times, but about the epoch of legends of strong warriors who had courage to fight the empire against tyranny”.
