Updates on repertoire

September 24, 2020

Dear audience!

Please note the changes in the Second stage performance schedule. Previously announced The Snow Maiden (26 and 27 September), Sylva (30 September), Puss in Boots (3 October) and Terem-Teremok are postponed to future dates. As it has recently become known Chief Stage Director Vyacheslav Vasilievich Starodubtsev is currently receiving treatment for the CoVid infection in one of the Moscow clinics under medical supervision. His productions were supposed to open the season on the Second stage of NOVAT. However, as things stay in the moment the Second stage performances require major blocking changes to comply with social distancing guidelines in order to keep safe opera soloists, chorus members and ballet dancers involved particularly in the Second stage shows. Our artists’ well being is the most important thing for us now. Therefore, in order to apply abovementioned changes and maintain high artistic standards of our shows, it is necessary to have the Chief Stage Director personally attending the rehearsals.

Performance is our top priority. Experience proved that remote rehearsals cannot provide a decent level of preparation for an opera performance. For that reason, we have made a difficult decision to reschedule Vyacheslav Starodubtsev’s productions.

All previously announced Second stage performances will be shown as soon as Vyacheslav Vasilievich is able to take part in rehearsals with NOVAT Opera Company. We wish the Chief Stage Director a swift recovery to get back to work!

New schedule of the Second stage performances:

  • 26 September, The Snow Maiden premiere, concert version moved to 27 November 19:00;
  • 27 September The Snow Maiden premiere, concert version moved to 11 December 19:00;
  • 30 September Sylva operetta moved to 1 December 19:00;
  • 3 October Puss in Boots moved to 4 November 16:00;
  • 4 October Terem-Teremok moved to 22 November 13:00.

All previously bought tickets stay valid for the new dates.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
