A presentation of the renovated Concert Hall named after the first principal conductor of the Theatre, People’s Artist of the USSR, Isidor Arkadievich Zak, was held in NOVAT. The guests heard performances of two symphonic orchestras – the Novosibirsk Academic Symphonic Orchestra and the Youth Symphonic Orchestra of the Novosibirsk Specialized Music School. Before the hall starts reception ofthe audience, it should go through a mode test lasting a few months. The test mode will include works on improvement of acoustics.
“Foundation of any building under construction must first subside, - said the musical director and principal conductor of NOVAT, Dmitry Jurowski. – Any concert hall needs time to adjust the sound. I suggest to consider this new phase as a test-drive, during which we, performers, will adapt ourselves to the new stage. We will hear not only a big symphonic orchestra here but also a chamber orchestra. We must appraise different opera singers, as well as experiment with various instruments”.
Yet the sound quality of the renovated Concert Hall have been already appreciated by acknowledged musicians. “Acoustics of the Concert Hall is perfect. Especially in comparison with what it was like when I performed here in my young days”, - mentioned Isidor Zak’s grandson, a world-known violinist, concert master of Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, Ilya Konovalov, who performed Part I of violin concerto by Brahms.
The official opening ceremony of Concert Hall n.a. I.A. Zak is scheduled on May, 2017.
