New characters, new names – opera debuts of October

October 14, 2017

Tenor Timophey Dubovitsky will perform for the first time the part of Pretender from Mussorgsky’s “Boris Godunov” on 14th October. The artist confirmed this character is familiar and interesting to him: “Grigory Otrepyev – is a young ambitious man. He feels trapped inside the monastery walls, I understand him. As a matter of fact, Russian opera is closer to me than Italian or German one. Russian music is complicated and original in its way and more comprehensible, intelligible for a Russian performer. Besides, I like our production. The performance is dynamic, a pleasure to watch and listen. The scenery is a bit grim, but very expressive; the plot is intelligible, visual backdrop makes the content comprehensible even for newcomers”.
