June 4 marked the 90th anniversary of Theatre principal stage designer Albin Morozov's birth (1926-1984).
Albin Morozov was born in 1926 in Irkutsk. From a young age he already started to attend classes in studios of amateur artists; since 1943 he studied in drama and art schools of Almaty and Tashkent and under the relocated Russian Academy of Arts in Samarkand. In 1946 Albin Morozov joined the Novosibirsk opera and ballet theatre, where he worked until 1984 - at first as a set designer; as a stage designer since 1952 and in 1965 he was appointed to the position of principal stage designer of the Theatre.
Albin's talent as a stage designer fully developed and was brought to light in the Novosibirsk opera and ballet theatre. During 38 years of work in the Theatre he participated in staging 56 opera and ballet productions, among them were Sleeping Beauty, Cherevichki, Evgeny Onegin by Tchaikovsky, La Traviata and Don Carlos by Verdi, May Night by Rimsky-Korsakov, Romeo and Juliet by Gounod, Masquerade by Laputin, Not Love Alone by Schedrin, Alkin's Song by Ivanov and many others. Albin Morozov cooperated with drama theatres and designed tv opera productions on a regular basis.
Albin Morozov's works are exhibited in the Novosibirsk State Fine Arts Museum's collection.
