Pyotr Belyakin has been Assigned a Deputy Musical Director of NOVAT

On November 1 a new position appears in the head management of NOVAT: deputy musical director/chief conductor. It will be taken by Pyotr Belyakin – a musician whose creative life is closely connected with the orchestra of NOVAT. The appearance of the new position is due to growing intensiveness of creative activities in NOVAT that is going to grow even more when the renovation of the Concert hall will be finished.

Responsibilities of the deputy musical director will include control over entire current musical work, including preparation of musical materials of new productions, and providing a proper state of productions of the current repertoire. By agreement with the musical director, his deputy takes partial responsibility on organization of preparatory work with creative teams, primarily, with the orchestra, as well as with chorus and opera soloists.

Pyotr Belyakin was born in Novosibirsk. He graduated from the Novosibirsk State Conservatoire n.a. M.I. Glinka (classes of clarinet and opera and symphonic conducting). In 1991 he joined the Novosibirsk opera and ballet theatre as a concert master of clarinets, later – as a principal conductor’s assistant. Since 2011, as a musical director and conductor, he made several productions. In particular, during the last season he staged operas Il barbiere di Seviglia by Rosini and Otello by Verdi. Pyotr Belyakin conducted opera and ballet performances in Moscow, Paris, Seoul, Baden-Baden, Bregenz.
