Premieres, stars and debuts of March at NOVAT

Welcoming spring at NOVAT: March playbill will please the audience with premieres, guest stars and debuts of your favorite artists.

Premiere

The springtime on NOVAT Main stage will start with premiere shows of Giuseppe Verdi’s Falstaff featuring NOVAT opera stars on 1st and 6th of March. Chief Stage Director Vyacheslav Starodubtsev stated that “Falstaff not only consists of superb musical content, but also renders topical issues. All that Verdi and Shakespeare wanted to tell by this opera sounds relevant in this day and age.” Title role will be performed by Alexey Zelenkov (1st March) and Andrey Triller (6th March).

1st March we invite the audience to a dainty lobby on NOVAT’s ground floor for a concert entitled Behold, Baroque! Chamber orchestra Music for Us together with the Novosibirsk opera soloists will perform a number of pieces by composers of XVII-XVIII centuries. 14th March at NOVAT’s second stage Dmitri Jurowski will present another concert program dedicated to the Baroque music, entitled Baroque gems.

We look forward to seeing you at concert programs during the March holidays at NOVAT’s second stage. Thank you, my heart concert set on 7th March and dedicated to Isaac Dunaevsky’s 120th anniversary will include most precious songs by this classic Soviet composer. A big holiday concert is dedicated to the International Women’s Day on 8th March – Monologues of Love will be performed wholeheartedly to all women by NOVAT artists.

All admirers of Russian opera tradition are invited to see the premiere of N. Rimsky-Korsakov’s “The Snow Maiden” on 27th March. The concert version of a beloved fairytale opera will be performed at the second stage of NOVAT under the baton of NOVAT’s Music Director and Principal Conductor Dmitri Jurowski.

Guest stars

Principal dancer with the Mikhailovsky Theatre, Honored Artist of Russia, world renowned dancer Ivan Vasiliev will play the evil sorcerer in Swan Lake on 8th March. World ballet star, principal dancer with the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia Denis Rodkin will perform at NOVAT on 19th March; the dancer will play rugged warlord Solor in a fascinating and colorful La Bayadère. Anastasia Lepeshinskaya, soloist with The Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre will perform the title role in Carmen opera on 22nd March.

Debuts

First debut of this spring will be the Lilac Fairy from Sleeping Beauty that will be performed on 5th March by young dancer Táňa Palichová. A noticeable ballet soloist Mikhail Nedelsky will make his debut as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet on 14th March.

Konstantin Zakharov, a young tenor soloist with NOVAT Opera Company, award winner at Russian and International competitions will for the first time sing the part of Vladimir Igorevich in the epic opera Prince Igor on 15th March. Then on 17th March prize winner of The Onegin National Opera Award Andrey Triller will for the first time play the self-proclaimed doctor Dulcamara in humorous and romantic opera tasting event L’elisir d’amore. Another prize winner of The Onegin National Opera Award baritone Gury Guriev, winner of International competitions will for the first time present his rendition of one of the most shining opera parts in the world, torero Escamillo, in Carmen on 22nd March.

NOVAT principal dancer Anna Germizeeva will for the first time perform the part of Gamzatti in La Bayadère on 20th March; Le Corsaire on 21st March will have its share of debuts: Ksenia Zakharova will for the first time perform the part of Medora.
