Head of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov awarded soloist of the Novosibirsk opera and ballet theatre, star of the world opera stage Veronika Dzhioeva «People’s artist of South Ossetia» honorary title.
Award ceremony took place at the closing Gala-concert of the Ist «Star of Alania» International musical festival named after Veronika Dzhioeva which the singer held in her home republic of South Ossetia. The title was awarded by Decree of President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov «in recognition of national and world musical art promotion, for active and fruitful creative work».
«Star of Alania» festival named after Veronika Dzhioeva took place in Tskhinvali from August 20th through August 22nd and became the first opera festival in the history of South Ossetia. Russian performing artists taught master classes in the Tskhinvali academy of music named after Felix Alborov and put on several concerts with participation of famous musicians.
Prestigious awards were given to festival participants as well, vocal concertmaster of the Novosibirsk opera and ballet theatre, professor of the Novosibirsk state conservatory named after M. Glinka Mikhail Mishchenko is among them – he received «Honoured Artist of South Ossetia» honorary title.
