Gaetano Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore” will open the 73rd season of NOVAT. Known by many generations of theatre-goers for its smart and amusing plot, variety of bright, life-asserting tunes and lots of funny moments, this story is back on the stage as “opera taste-off” new authentic genre.
The performance is designed as a kind of mixture of genres and styles; it’s being prepared by an artistic crew already known and loved by the Novosibirsk audience – Chief Stage Director Vyacheslav Starodubtsev the leader, Musical Director Dmitry Yurovsky, Set Designer and Lighting Designer Sergey Skornetsky, Costume Designer Zhanna Usachyova and the Choreographer Artur Oshchepkov.
The new “L’elisir d’amore” is meant to be a synthesis of singing, dancing and drama performance, typical for an American musical mixed with romance and old Italian movie humour.
