Tchaikovsky’s Heritage Mysteries

NOVAT is inviting you to a unique meeting with a custodian of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s heritage Ada Einbinder. A daughter of a famous scientist, Doctor of Art Criticism, the keeper of Tchaikovsky’s archives Polina Weidman, Ada Einbinder has inherited the helm and performs the high mission of maintaining the great composer’s artistic legacy. On Thusrsday, February 9, right before the Queen of Spades. The Game performance, Ada Einbinder will deliver a lecture titled “The Queen of Spades –Riddles of Birth, Mysteries of Fortune”.

"The Queen of Spades" is the apple of PoitrIlyich Tchaikovsky’s eye, the climax of his operatic creative work, - considers Ada Einbinder. - At some point the composer himself admitted that history of the world for him turned out to be divided in two periods: everything that happened since the creation of the world until appearance of "The Queen of Spades", and the second one would be after composing the opera.

Ada Einbinder is a musicologist, Ph.D. in History of Arts, manager of the Handwritten and printed sources department of the State Memorial Preserve Museum n.a. Tchaikovsky in Klin; she is also a senior researcher of the State Institute of Arts Studies. She is the author of numerous publications dedicated to the history of Russian music of the XIX century and difficulties of creative process and biography of Pyotr Tchaikovsky. In 2017 she took charge of the project "Academic Complete Works of P.I. Tchaikovsky".

Polina Veidman and Ada Einbinder have rendered an invaluable assistance during preparations to the premiere of The Queen of Spades. The Game in our Theatre and provided Vyacheslav Starodubtsev, the stage director, with an opportunity to acquaint himself with precious materials of the Museum. Owing to this acquaintance, a new bright, exceptional and multidimensional production was born, which kindled interest of the audience and critics.

The lecture "The Queen of Spades – Riddles of Birth, Mysteries of Fortune" by Ada Einbinder will take place on February 8 in the Foyer of the 2nd floor of the Theatre. Starting time: 6 p.m.
