Theatre Avenue – the living memory of Siberian stars

New trees will be planted on 7th September at the Theatre Avenue in memory of remarkable cultural workers of Novosibirsk. Conceived upon completion of the 72nd season, this tradition will continue as the new season starts.

The premiere of Gaetano Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore” will mark the beginning of the new season of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre on 7th September, at 7 p.m. Before the performance an official ceremony will take place during which three new trees will be planted at the Theatre Avenue in memory of outstanding workers of Siberian musical culture.

“The trees to be planted at the Theatre Avenue will serve as a reminder of those outstanding personalities, who used their talent and effort to create the glorious heritage of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet theatre and the whole theatre culture of Novosibirsk – announced Vyacheslav Starodubtsev – Honored Artist of the USSR, great opera singer Valery Egudin, legendary ballerina, National Artist of the USSR Lidiya Krupenina, unforgettable ballet couple Lyubov Gershunova and Anatoly Berdyshev – outstanding cultural workers, whose effort helped the Novosibirsk theatre to take its rightful place among the leading theatre companies of Russia and to become famous far beyond its borders”.

The ceremony will involve the artistic direction of NOVAT – the founder of the Avenue, Chief Stage Director of the Novosibirsk theatre Vyacheslav Starodubtsev, Musical Director and Principal Conductor Dmitry Yurovsky, Artistic Director of the Ballet Company, Honored Artist of Ukraine Denis Matvienko and prima ballerina of the theatre, National Artist of Russia Anna Zharova.

The official opening of the new season will start 7th September at 5 p.m.
