We are happy to share with you a small friendly video message of the musician, recorded recently in Prague. The legendary opera singer, who has been performing as a conductor and musical producer the last couple of decades, presented Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” at the Estates Theatre in Prague and dedicated it to the 230th anniversary of this opera’s world premiere. To take part in the anniversary performance the great musician invited famous singers who had throughout the years won Operalia, the World Opera Competition, established by maestro. The part of Don Ottavio was performed by Dmitry Korchak, who received Operalia awards in two categories in 2004.
It’s remarkable that Dmitry Korchak follows the path of the great master – the famous tenor has recently started performing as a conductor, and was nominated to a post of the Principal Guest Conductor with the Novosibirsk opera and ballet theatre.
“Placido Domingo knows me well as a singer, and during our previous meeting I told him about the start of my conductor career and invitation to join the Novosibirsk theatre company. – tells Dmitry Korchak – Maestro admitted he was happy for me, and after seeing the pictures of the theatre he was impressed and decided to record a short video message to the Novosibirsk audience with commencement speech and warm greetings. I consider the blessing of such great musician an honor for me and the theatre”.
