Opera premiere of the last season – Otello by Giuseppe Verdi will be performed on the stage of NOVAT on October 26. Opera with a plot that overwhelms by its tragic power and the music thrills with sensual depth, will be shown for the first time in the current season.
Verdi’s Otello is an innovative piece that gave an impulse to further development of opera. Reviving an authentic spirit of Shakespeare’s tragedy, it became the highest achievement of Verdi in the area of musical drama. “When we say “opera”, we mean Verdi. Otello is a symbol of opera art. It is loved by musicians, singers and the public. It is indeed a fundamental and grandiose piece!” – marks the musical director and conductor of the production Pyotr Belyakin.
The audience saw the new semi-stage production in March of the last season. Success of the performance was defined by the trio of main parts performers. Each of them not only fills the opera with beauty of the voice, but also creates a deep image. The characters of the opera characters develop with the course of plot development: tortured by passion, they perish in the whirlpool of feelings – from crazy love to ruinous hatred, from gnawing envy to mischievous triumph.
On October 26 the part of Otello, the Venetian Moor, will be performed by the merited artist of Russia Oleg Videman. Irina Churilova will perform the part of Desdemona. Pavel Yankovsky will feature in the role of Iago.
