Denis Matsuev Starts the World Tour in Novosibirsk

On October 10 the Grand hall of NOVAT will witness the program “To the City and the World” performed by and outstanding pianist Denis Matsuev. The program includes pieces by Beethoven, Schumann, Liszt, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev. The solo concert of the People’s Artist of Russia will launch the new world tour around the best concert halls of America and Europe including the Maison Symphonique de Montréal and the legendary Carnegie Hall in New York.

Denis Matsuev has long-lasting creative links with the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. His first performance on the stage of the Theatre was in 2009. Three years ago, the musician helped the Theatre to choose a new Steinway & Sons grand piano. The Novosibirsk audience keeps in memory the two performances of the world-known pianist in the framework of the “Open NOVAT” project, when the musician played in informal setting.

“We managed to come up such a format, where the grand piano was located in the middle of the hall, - the pianist commented on his tour that took place on the eve of the renovated Theatre opening, - It turned out so that I was surrounded by phenomenal public. The audience showed the unique intelligent silence that any musician is dreaming to hear on his concert. And the venue offered by Vladimir Kekhman helped to create unique acoustics”.

Denis Matsuev is a distinguished pianist of nowadays whose name is inseparably connected with the Russian piano school. His concert programs are characterized by unfailing quality, innovation of creative concept and deep artistic interpretations. Since 2008, the musician is the president of Interregional Charity Foundation “Novye Imena” (new names) named after I.N. Voronova.
