Denis Solntsev

Laureate of the National Theatre Award “Golden Mask”

Since 1991 he worked as a lighting designer with the theatres of Saint-Petersburg.

In 1999 he was appointed lighting designer at The Baltic House Theatre (Saint-Petersburg). He cooperated with the following directors: V. Kramer, I. Konyaev, A. Moguchy, V. Fokin, Y. Butusov, A. Zholdak, Klim, R. Kudashov, T. Kulyabin, V. Zolotar.

The performances staged with his participation run in the biggest cities of Russia and abroad: Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Ufa, Novosibirsk, Omsk; Riga (Latvia), Astana (Kazakhstan), Guangzhou (China), Nanjing (China).

The list of productions staged in musical theatres includes: Dvořák’s Rusalka at the Mikhailovsky theatre, Sabitov’s Prometheus at the Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre, Donizetti’s Don Pasquale at the Bolshoi Theatre, Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden at the Mariinsky Theatre, Firtich’s White. Petersburg at the Musical Comedy Theatre in Saint-Petersburg, Verdi’s Rigoletto at the Opernhaus Wuppertal, ballets Salome, Carmen, Zhusan at the Astana Ballet Theatre.

He worked with the Novosibirsk state opera and ballet theatre on Delibes’ Coppélia (2018) and Balanchine’s Jewels (2019). He is a laureate of the national theatre award Golden Mask in the category Best Light Designer (2014).
