Contradiction

April 08, 2016

Anonymous messages spreading information on the repertoire policy of the Novosibirsk opera and ballet theatre have appeared in the mass media and social networks. Normally Theatre does not comment on anonymous statements but there is obvious falsification of facts in these messages.

In particular, it has been reported that Le Corsiare, Swan Lake and The Nutcracker productions will be taken off the repertoire due to unwillingness of Theatre’s head management to pay royalties to the stage choreographer and artistic director of the ballet company Igor Zelensky, whose contract expires in 2016. As a matter of fact, these productions will be present in the following seasons’ repertoire. Igor Zelensky is the stage choreographer but not the author of the above mentioned productions; he therefore does not receive and never has received any royalties for them. Moreover upon expiration of his current contract with NOVAT Igor Zelensky will take up a position as an adviser of Theatre’s Director General Vladimir Kekhman.

Complete playbill of 2016 will become available on April 13 and will contain Theatre’s current repertoire including 11 premieres of the this season and 4 premieres of the new 72nd season.

You can check out the playbill on the official novat.nsk.ru website.
