Scientific and Technical Council: Targets and Goals Determined

A constitutive meeting of the resumed Scientific and Technical Council (STC) took place in the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre (NOVAT).

Opening the meeting, the general director of NOVAT Vladimir Kekhman mentioned that the Council re-launches its activities in a hard and crucial period for the Theatre. “Our common duty is to preserve a unique Russia’s theatrical building for future generations. The validity of my contract is five years and I consider as my responsibility to implement those stages of the Theatre’s reconstruction that were planned before but never carried out. Your assistance in this arduous task is invaluable”, stressed Vladimir Kekhman.

The working membership of the STC headed by Prof. Gennady Chibryakov was adopted by the constitutive meeting. Representatives of scientific and creative intelligence, legislative and executive authorities, as well as journalists, businessmen and legal experts joined the Council.

The list of prior STC tasks included creating of a number of scientifically-based conclusions, in particular: dependability of bearing structures; technical state of the dome as the most problematic part of the building; correspondence to fire precaution standards.

The next STC session will be announced shortly.

Scientific and Technical Council (STC) of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre was created in 1988. As it was written in the first session protocol: “With a goal of scientific and technical supervision during construction works and refurbishment of the architectural monument of republican significance”. The Council stopped its activities in early 1990s. In October 2015 representatives of general public addressed to general director of NOVAT Vladimir Kekhman with a request to resume the activities of the STC.
