To the 200th Anniversary of Opera “Il Barbiere di Seviglia”

On February 20, 1816 Teatro Argentina di Roma presented a premiere performance of Gioachino Rossini’s new work “Almaviva, o sia L’inutile precauzione” later named “The Barber of Seville” (Il Barbiere di Seviglia). The very first performance of the opera nearly got the knock, but already the second and third performances took the audience off their feet. From then onward Rossini’s opera became one of the most fancied and popular works worldwide. 

NOVAT dedicates the 6th of March performance to the 200th anniversary of “The Barber of Seville” premiere. Principle parts will be performed by Pavel Yankovsky (Figaro), Svetlana Tokareva (Rosina), Vladimir Kuchin (Count Almaviva), Konstantin Buinov (Bartolo). Pyotr Belyakin will be at conductor’s podium.
