Vladimir Kekhman, general director of NOVAT has introduced to ballet company Denis Matvienko, future artistic director. Beginning with June, 2016 this position will be taken by a famous ballet dancer when Igor Zelensky’s contract will be over.
Denis Matvienko was born in 1979 in Dnepropetrovsk. He finished the Kiev State Ballet Scholl. Still being a student, he debuted as Prince Desire in the “Sleeping Beauty” on the stage of the National Opera House of Ukraine, becoming the principal dancer in 2003. Over the years, he also was a premiere danseur in the Mikhailovsky and Mariinsky Theatres. He also performed as a guest-dancer in the New National Theatre in Tokyo, the Bolshoi Theatre, the La Scala Theatre and in the Paris Opera. In 2011-2013, he was an artistic director in the National Opera House of Ukraine. Denis Matvienko is a laureate of many International Contests in Luxembourg, Budapest, Nagoya and Moscow.
