Daria Shuvalova, the winner and the awardee of international competitions, will play the Oscar part in the performance based on Verdi’s opera “Un Ballo in Maschera” on 26th May. The young NOVAT ballet company soloist managed to create an amazingly light, expressive and attractive image of a naughty page-boy.
”It’s not so easy to damp down your femininity and release the naughty boy - noted Daria Shuvalova – But I will try to recollect the memories of my childhood, when we used to climb up the trees and run with scratched knees.”
The main character of the play, Ricardo, is presented by Vyacheslav Starodubtsev as a common image of an enlightened ruler misunderstood by his contemporaries. The protagonist and his devoted page-boy Oscar literally glow in their costumes amid the dull ambience.
“The director was very clear about my character: Oscar and Ricardo are the two suns, two light beams illuminating this gloomy puritan world – tells Daria Shuvalova. – Oscar must be very bright and attractive, and since I have recently become a mom, I looked closer at my boy and found the inner light that attract people and wakens the joy and warmth in people around. This is the type of “childishness” I infused my Oscar with”.
The next “Un Ballo in Maschera” performance featuring Daria Shuvalova will be held on 26th May. Tickets are available on the website and at the theatre box office.
