Stars and debuts at NOVAT stage in February

The February NOVAT repertoire promises plenty of interesting events to opera admirers and ballet fans. Opera and ballet stars from the main theatres of the country as well as outstanding Russian musicians are going to take part in performances and concerts; NOVAT artists await interesting debuts as well.

The big gala-concert with world ballet stars on 23rd February is supposed to become the most important event of the month. Programme of the night will include ballet hits performed by the artists from the main musical theatres of the country: Bolshoi theatre of Russia, Mariinsky and NOVAT. The concert will be featured with the Bolshoi theatre principal dancer Ekaterina Krysanova, principal dancer of the Bolshoi theatre Vladislav Lantratov, stars of the Mariinsky theatre - principal dancer Ekaterina Kondaurova, and the first soloist Konstantin Zverev.

Opera admirers would surely be pleased by Alexey Zelenkov’s debut in “The Barber of Seville” on February 17. The gifted baritone will hit the stage representing doctor Bartolo. The performance will be conducted by the guest artist from the Mikhailovsky theatre maestro Mikhail Tatarnikov. The same day, February 17, another operatic debut will take place – Alexey Laushkin will perform for the first time the part of Bear in the amazing children’s opera “Terem-Teremok” (“The Little Hut”) at Isidor Zak concert hall.

The principal dancer of NOVAT ballet company Olga Grishenkova will perform Kitri part from “Don Quixote” ballet for the first time in her career on February 22. The audience got used to seeing Olga perform lyric parts like Giselle, Odetta-Odile from “Swan Lake”, tender beauty Medora from “Le Corsaire”. The more interesting it will be for the audience to see the talented dancer assume a new line of character – passionate, self-willed, vigorous Spanish lady. The ballerina admits she dreamt of dancing Kitri since she was a child, and she is looking forward to her debut with excitement and joy. Basil part will be performed by the soloist of the Mikhailovsky theatre Ernest Latypov.

An outstanding cello player, Honored Artist of Russia Boris Andrianov will perform at Isidor Zak concert hall on February 22. One of the most acknowledged Russian musicians accompanied by NOVAT symphonic orchestra under maestro Dmitri Jurowski will present a new concert programme “Mozart & Shostakovich. Two genius, two worlds”.

Baritone Alexander Shakhov, soloist of the Mikhailovsky theatre will perform Eletsky in NOVAT’s “The Queen of Spades. The Game” on February 24. That will become the first time the artist from Saint-Petersburg performs at the main stage of the Novosibirsk theatre.

Artem Pugachev, NOVAT soloist, will debut as Marcus Crassus in the legendary “Spartacus” by Yury Grigorovich on February 26. Graduate of Vaganova ballet academy joined NOVAT company in this season and has been performing leading parts.

Principal dancer of the Bolshoi theatre Anna Nikulina will perform temple dancer Nikiya in the renowned classic ballet “La Bayadère” on February 27 at the main stage of NOVAT. Tender, lyric, honest and artful – this is how the audience describes the dancer.
