Surprises of the January playbill

Dear friends! NOVAT congratulates you on the upcoming New Year and suggests keeping the holiday spirit as long as possible by visiting the theatre in January. NOVAT’s playbill of the first month of 2018 will surely please you with its interesting premieres, good old traditional performances, guest appearing and debuts of NOVAT soloists.

Till the very Christmas the magic ballet “The Nutcracker” will distribute faith in goodness and miracles to the audience of all ages.

8th January at 14:00 the main stage of NOVAT will be performed Hilarion Alfeyev’s Christmas Oratorio. We invite you to acknowledge the piece praising the bright holiday of Christmas.

10th January a contemporary ballet production of “Peer Gynt” with the music by Edward Grieg will be performed, a show called “Mont Blanc of the music season” by the Novosibirsk critics.

12th January you are invited to see the opera degustation. The premiere of the 73rd season, “L’elisir d’amore” will charm you with its bright, cheerful tunes.

14th January NOVAT baritone singer Maxim Aniskin will make his debut as Tonio in a premiere of the 72nd season – Leoncavallo’s opera “Pagliacci”.

NOVAT Ballet Company soloist Mikhail Lifentsev will play for the first time the part of Solor in Minkus’s vibrant ballet masterpiece “La Bayadère”, packed with oriental flavor.

13th January the audience will face two ballet debuts in an adventurous ballet “Le Corsaire” by Adam. The noon performance will be featured with Anna Germizeyeva dancing Medora for the first time, the night show ùà the same day will be featured with Alexey Tyutyunnik performing the honorable corsair Conrad.

Bizet’s flames of passion will capture the stage of the Novosibirsk theatre on 17th January with his masterpiece “Carmen”. The part of an untamable gypsy girl will be presented by a soloist of The Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow Anastasiya Lepeshinskaya; part of José will be performed by an Honored Artist of Russia, soloist of the Mariinsky theatre, tenor Akhmed Agadi.

World opera star Ildikó Komlósi will come to the stage of NOVAT for the first time on 19th January performing her signature part - Amneris of Verdi’s “Aida”; the title role will be performed by the prima donna of the Novosibirsk opera world Irina Churilova.

Soloist of NOVAT Ballet Company Kseniya Zakharova will make her debut as Juliet in Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet” on 27th January.

Vyacheslav Starodubtsev will present his new production on 27th and 28th January. It’s a new rendition of N. Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera “Mozart and Salieri”, set to premiere at Isidor Zak concert hall. The director often blurs the definitions of genres in his work, and so this new piece will combine opera, classical choreography, contemporary dance and sound design.

The leader of rebellious slaves will be performed again by an outstanding dancer Ivan Vasiliev in Khachaturyan’s “Spartacus” (choreography by Grigorovich) on 31st January.

The extraordinary Christmas Trees will adorn the lobby of the theatre throughout January. Prop master of NOVAT have dressed them with the characters of the current theatre repertoire. One of the trees hosts characters of the main New Year ballet “The Nutcracker”, other one hosts characters of opera premieres. The biggest tree hosting your favorite characters of NOVAT ballet productions stands in the lobby on the first floor.
