Alexander Shakhov graduated from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire. He participated in master classes held by Vladimir Chernov, Elena Obraztsova, Ruben Lisitsian, Sergei Leiferkus, Dmitry Vdovin. In 2014, he joined the Mikhailovsky Opera. At the Theatre, he performed Fiorello and Officer in the concert performances of Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia under the baton of Mikhail Tatarnikov. At the Theatre, he has also performed Schaunard and Marcello in Puccini’s La Bohème (productions by Arnaud Bernard and Robert Carsen). Nowadays, he performs baritone parts in the operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gioachino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi, Jacques-François-Fromental-Élie Halévy, Ruggero Leoncavallo, Gaetano Donizetti, Leoš Janáček, Engelbert Humperdinck, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and Boris Asafiev.
